A world apart, yet close to all the
attractions of Hermanus
“Beautiful, relaxing and exactly what you need to recharge your batteries.”
We really enjoyed our stay, and would definitely visit again soon. The beautiful views & farm feeling with all the necessities make it the perfect weekend getaway for a couple. I would definitely recommend the Earth Cottage if you want to escape the busy city life. The added bonus is that it is very close to Hermanus Town centre as well if you need anything.
“Yes, we'll come back!”
About the assets, it is a charming, romantic and cozy cottage right next to Hamilton Russell vineyards. You will be surrounded by horses, chicken, dogs, ducks and we even had the pleasure of seeing Luna, Lela, Grace and Kate, four wonderful puppies, along with their mother and sister.
We loved it there, relaxing at night next to the fire, chatting with Liane the owner and using the cottage as our base to discover Hermanus and the surrounding. We will come back, that's for sure. Of all the places we stayed at during our journey in Western Cape, this was the most special.
Hard to talk about it without feeling like we should return right now.
“Peace and tranquility in the hills”
This quaint little cottage is nestled in the, not well known, Hermanus wine lands,
just 5 minutes outside of the main town.
My boyfriend and I spent two glorious, peaceful nights in this spacious home and would
have stayed longer if it wasn't for work.
The horses can be heard neighing in the distance, and come to the fence to greet you, which is a mere 4 m from the porch. The only sounds that can be heard at night are that of nature gently rocking you to sleep. I would recommend this cottage to anyone seeking a break from the every day rush of city life, the views are stunning and you are left in peace to enjoy your vacation. The only thing that may disturb you is the color of the water, which you needn't be concerned about, as it comes from the mountains (all the water in the area looks brown/red in color, and separate drinking water is provided) and is perfectly safe to use for washing up and bathing.
All crockery and cooking utensils are provided, all you need to bring is your food (which you can get in the town, or dine at one of the many vineyard restaurants on the road if you prefer) There is also a braai facility (barbecue) so be sure to make use of that.
I would recommend this place in the summer months so you can be outside and enjoy the fresh air and views of the rolling hills and grapevines.
“Absolutely stunning and a must to stay over"
We were looking for a break away from our hectic work rate, and a break away we got!!! This little gem is hidden away in the Hemel-And-Aarde valley, just outside Hermanus. The cottage is tastefully decorated with everything you might need. The surroundings contribute to a feeling of absolute tranquility! Relax in the hammoc on the veranda(or catch up on lost sleep, like I did). There is also stunning hiking trails, or bring the MTB along, lots of roads to explore. We didn't get to all of them.
A huge plus is that Hermanus is a mere 10-15 min drive away, so no reason to be board.
For the animal lovers, pure Arabic horses, galloping past the cottage is a
real treat! My wife really enjoyed this!!!
Don't miss out on this one!!
“Romantic valley cottage”
The Earth cottage is a slice of heaven. Private, peaceful and fully furnished. It is the ideal base to explore the Hemel en Aarde Valley close to Hermanus in South Africa.
The hosts, Tino and Liane are fantastic. Super friendly and very helpful. The cottage is great for a couple looking for a romantic getaway or a small family. There are horses, chickens and some beautiful golden retrievers.
"Hemel-and-Aarde, the name says it all!!!"
We spent 4 nights in Earth Cottage and wished it could be longer. Liane and Tino are wonderful hosts and make you feel at home. The cottage is fully equipped and was just a pleasure. We enjoyed the surroundings and loved the company of the Arabian horses as well at the Golden Retrievers. The sounds of the rooster every morning, the ducks, chickens and river were extremely relaxing and peaceful.
The cottage is surrounded by all the well-known wine estates and restaurants. So if you feel like tasting wine or would like to “wine and dine” this is the place to do so. I can recommend B’s steak house at the Hemel and Aarde Village approximately 5 km towards Hermanus. This is a must do as their steaks and hospitality are just fantastic.
We will most definitely visit Earth Cottage again!!!
“Peace and quiet, great views and loved the animal life close by”
Friendly welcome by Liane, a lovely surprise visit to the ducks, chickens and horses a couple of metres away from the cottage. A surprisingly cool cottage in the heat of the day. We loved the walks and the runs up to the top of the mountain overlooking Hermanus Town. The drive to the [Hemel-en-Aarde] village is only 5 minutes and [from there it's] only a 3 km drive to Hermanus beaches and town with lovely walks along the coastline. It beats a B&B or hotel for a nice rustic stay. We will return soon.
Thank you Tino and Liane.
“Great quiet place”
This is a very nice nature place. Horses, dogs and chickens around in a valley close to Hermanus. Great bathtub and very nice hosts!
"Thank you again for a wonderful stay."
It was such a delight – the dogs, the horses, the house – and the veggies were AMAZING. Still have half a capsicum for tonight.
